So, a SHOCKING thing happened with my options account in January. I wasn’t prepared for it, but I learned a LOT!

Be sure to read the financial update to find out:-)

For the newbies, every month I send an update on my retirement journey.

Retirement Goal

I deeply desire to be a woman of pleasure by October 2, 2030. A woman of pleasure is a woman who has financial peace of mind, time freedom, and whose primary purpose is pleasure.

I want to retire well. Meaning, I want to be healthy - physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually, AND financially.

Now, let’s check out my progress…

Physical Health

2025 Goal: Manage my blood sugar with diet and exercise

My commitment: Move my body for at least 25 minutes a day (or 5000 steps), 20 days a month

Update

Retirement Plan Update: Physical Health - Movement Days

I started the year strong with 19 days due to the active lifestyle in Trinidad. That’s one of the things I LOVE about being there. It’s very walkable!

Community Health

2025 Goal: Be able to describe what a thriving community is to me.

My commitment: Talk to 3 friends/cousins a week.

Update

You may have noticed that I changed the heading here from ‘Social Health’ to ‘Community Health’. The Trinidad trip was enlightening in this regard.

My cousin and I hanging out at the park as her (our) nephew frolicked.

My mom has a STRONG community. They may not be local in North Carolina, but she is ALWAYS connected to them. They keep her company when she’s stateside, and in Trinidad?! They are showing out!

I’m not able to put my finger on exactly what a thriving community looks like to me and I’d like to be able to do so.

For now, it means that I keep in touch with my cousins and friends who are everywhere. Since returning from Trinidad, that’s what I’ve been doing.

Financial Health

2025 Goals: Save $12,000 in my Freedom Fund. 10% Monthly options premium increase.

My commitment: Contribute to 401K up to the match so that I automatically double my contribution.

💡 Inside this Month’s Financial Update:

  • A hidden detail in my retirement plan – My published retirement date is 2030, but I have a real exit plan that starts much sooner.

  • An unexpected dip in my options account – My strategy was tested when my portfolio dropped. What went wrong, and how am I recovering?

  • Lessons for the future – If an income stream disappears, what’s my backup plan? I’m breaking it all down.
