I’ve always held that some of the best views are (deep) behind the tree line 😉 So glad you got to experience that. Thanks for sharing and for the Tupelo Honey recommendation. There is one here in DC.

My (weekend) retreats usually involve physical activity, nature, and a waterfall, if one is close by.

I need to add waterfalls to my list. I haven't been to one since I was a kid (Blue Basin).

When was your last weekend retreat?

I love going away to visit my friend this time of the year. It’s like a retreat for me. An escape from decisions, daily to-dos, and overthinking.

Your retreat sounds absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing it with us. 💕

Talk about timing! I am heading to Maine this weekend for my own DIY writing retreat and your post has gotten me so excited for my getaway 😍also, my daughter moved to Raleigh four years ago and I’ve been a bunch but NEVER knew there was a lake! Top of my list when I go back!♥️

Enjoy ME. It’s beautiful out that way and lots of lighthouses. I seek out lighthouses and waterfalls on my state adventures 😊

Oh how cool! Do enjoy the solitude and creative time.

Raleigh has a few lakes. The one I didn’t get to that’s the big one is Lake Johnson. It’s very peaceful. I used to go there on Sundays when I stopped going to church.

Maybe next time you’re in Raleigh we can arrange a visit.
